Graduation Information

Congratulations to the Class of 2018! 

Your student is in the final stretch of their high school career and graduation is on the horizon.  As we approach this important day, we want to provide you with some preliminary information for planning purposes.

Letters with this information have been mailed directly to your home.  Please review and confirm the spelling of your student’s name that will appear in the Graduation Program and on their official Diploma.  Please confer with your student and notify us immediately if you require any change.  If we do not hear from you on or before Friday, April 6th, we will assume you and your student are fine with the spelling we have on file. 

For changes, please contact Ben Rombro at rombrob@sfusd.edu or drop a note by the Asawa SOTA front office addressed to his attention.  Again, time is of the essence!

Graduation Ceremony& Reception:

Graduation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018.  The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre located at 3301 Lyon Street in San Francisco.   A reception following graduation, with light appetizers and beverages, will begin around 12:30 p.m. in the reception hall located inside the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.

Graduation Tickets:

Although we believe there will be ample seating for everyone who wants to attend, seating is limited at the Palace of Fine Arts and admission to the graduation event will be by ticket only.  Each graduating student will automatically be allotted two (2) free tickets.  Two additional tickets will be available to those students and their families who request these extra tickets via RSVP.   RSVP forms, along with more detailed graduation information, will be mailed to you in mid-April. 

After receiving all RSVP forms, we will be able to determine the number of seats available for sale.  These remaining tickets will be sold through the Asawa SOTA website.  This system has worked very well the last nine years and we feel confident that everyone will be accommodated. 

Senior Luncheon & Awards Ceremony:

A luncheon and awards ceremony for graduating students has tentatively been scheduled for Monday, June 4th.  We will need senior parent volunteers to help plan this event.  If you can volunteer, please contact volunteer@sfsota.org as soon as possible.

Graduation Ceremony Expenses:

In keeping with the Asawa SOTA tradition of having graduation at an offsite venue with a reception following, we have reserved the Palace of Fine Arts venue for our 2018 graduates.  As in the past, this event is entirely funded from the PTSA budget! 

Financial contributions are requested to cover the cost of the venue, reception, senior awards luncheon, printed programs, etc.   We suggest a $100.00 donation per graduating student.  We recognize that many families are facing mounting expenses with their students heading to college, but we hope we are giving plenty of time to plan for this expenditure.  If you are in a position to contribute now, we greatly appreciate your generosity!   No donation is too small.
